Nestled in the dramatic landscape of Pedregal de La Paz, Mexico, Villa Sunset stands as a masterful reinterpretation of Mediterranean-inspired architecture and contemporary hacienda style. The design conceived by Grupo ARO leverages the site’s rugged topography to unfold a multi-level structure that descends harmoniously down the rocky hillside. The main elevation welcomes visitors with a restrained and timeless elegance, characterized by warm-toned stucco walls, classic clay tile roofs, and refined accents in natural stone and wrought iron. However, it is along its rear facade that the villa reveals its true magnitude, opening up completely to the marine horizon through an imposing sequence of structural arches that endow the building with an almost sculptural, monumental character.
True to its name, the project is meticulously oriented to capture the magic of golden hour light and the region’s spectacular sunsets. Transitions between indoors and outdoors are fluid and deliberate, highlighted by broad terraces sheltered by robust timber pergolas and expansive glass doors that not only flood the interiors with light, but also reflect the surrounding natural environment. The centerpiece of the outdoor areas is undoubtedly the spectacular glass-mosaic infinity pool, which rests atop the lower arcade and appears to project directly into the sea. Villa Sunset successfully combines the warmth and texture of traditional materials with the scale and comfort of modern design, creating an exceptional residential sanctuary.
